About Us

Founded in January 1998, AKI is located in Hutchinson, MN (50 miles West of Minneapolis). Home to our corporate office, Hutchinson is where our research, development and operations departments are consolidated into a 10,000 sq ft facility. We completed an extensive renovation to our corporate facility in September, 2007 which included exterior remodeling, office and laboratory updates as well as production cell organization.. We also have a regional support office in Bangkok, Thailand that is responsible for supporting Thailand, China, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Malaysia. Our principle products measure angles, heights and feature sizes in production environments.

In 1998, AKI implemented vision assisted attachment of small circuits to spring assemblies with accuracies better than 13 microns.  This process is described in U.S. patent 6,266,869.

1999 included the development of a laser based passive resistor application and removal process and another patent (U.S. 6,146,813).  In the year 2000, a novel flexible circuit based mechanical support was developed for hard disk drive components (U.S. patents 6,515,832 B1 and 6,980,400 B2).

High sensitivity, high resolution angle sensors were developed in 2001, and a regional support office opened in Thailand the following year.  Additional machine, metrology, and software components hit the market in 2003.  These components, along with our core angle sensors, make up 75% of our current business activities.
